YSEALI: Over a Decade of Leadership

2024 YSEALI Summit aims to connect, inspire, and support the next generation of YSEALI members, empowering them to create and pursue such economic opportunities within diverse creative industries.

The 2023 YSEALI Summit reflect on the last decade’s achievements and set the course for the future.

The YSEALI Summit 2022 focused specifically on the Economic Development pillar and enabled participants to study the latest challenges and opportunities in economic sectors amidst social issues and COVID-19 throughout Southeast Asia.

The YSEALI Summit 2021: Empowering Technology for a Greener Future focused on green technologies, where participants’ attempts to avoid carbon emissions were tracked, resulting in a total of 6473.3 kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent (kgCO2e) avoided.

The YSEALI Summit 2020 focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) and Industry 4.0, with the goal of inspiring participants to develop solutions for a highly skilled workforce to empower economic development.

The YSEALI Summit 2019 aimed to motivate youth participants to acknowledge the importance of the four YSEALI pillars. Participants learned how to be accountable for their society and reinforced their role as leaders of the new generation.

The YSEALI Summit 2018 showcased innovative approaches to economic cooperation by U.S. companies, organizations, and institutions present in ASEAN. It enabled young innovators and entrepreneurs from the U.S. and ASEAN to connect with one another and with experts.

In conjunction with the 40th anniversary of U.S.–ASEAN relations, the YSEALI Summit 2017 focused on an advanced leadership workshop that equipped participants with knowledge, attitudes, and skills to address ASEAN’s complex political, social, economic, and environmental challenges.

The YSEALI Summit 2016 focused on rural development issues and the quest to bridge the development gap within the ASEAN region. It served as a platform for innovative ideas, global perspectives, and a strong commitment to sustainable change.

The YSEALI Summit 2015 taught participants how to develop effective online media campaigns. Young leaders worked in teams to create public-awareness campaigns spanning all four YSEALI themes, then took these campaigns back to their home countries after the event.

The YSEALI Generation Workshop 2014 addressed pressing regional issues requiring innovative solutions. Multi-country teams developed projects under all four YSEALI pillars, setting the stage for dynamic brainstorming and cross-cultural collaboration.

YSEALI was launched here in 2013, laying the foundation for what would become a dynamic community of young minds shaping their region’s destiny. One key outcome was identifying the YSEALI themes that guide emerging leaders toward a shared vision.
